UW-Madison Updates IRB Registrations to Satisfy New OHRP and FDA Requirements
September 14, 2009 - The UW-Madison has updated its Institutional Review Board (IRB) registrations as required by new Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations that went into effect on July 14, 2009. The updated registration information for the UW-Madison IRBs can be found on the OHRP webpage: http://ohrp.cit.nih.gov/search/.
To verify the registration of UW-Madison IRBs, click on “IRB Organizations (IORGs)” at the top of the OHRP search page and enter 0000218 in the “IORG Number” field.
The final IRB registration rule was published by DHHS in January as new subpart E to 45 CFR part 46 (the federal Common Rule) and can be accessed at: http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2009/E9-588.htm. The FDA IRB registration final rule (new 21 CFR 56.106) can be accessed at http://edocket.access.gpo.gov/2009/E9-682.htm.
