Office of Industrial Partnerships - About Us
Industry-sponsored research at the University of Wisconsin-Madison comprises an important component of our research portfolio. Commercialization of technology developed at the UW has led to the formation of more than 280 start-up companies that, combined, have had an estimated economic impact exceeding $2 billion. However, significant potential for increasing the number and value of industrial partnerships exists. To foster this growth, the University established the Office of Industrial Partnerships (OIP) in 2012. This office exists solely to negotiate industrial agreements in effective, innovative and efficient ways, and is guided by an Advisory Committee that includes representives from the faculty and industry.
OIP works closely with other campus offices, including the offices of Research and Sponsored Programs, Administrative Legal Services, Corporate Relations, and Research Compliance, as well as the Law & Entrepreneurs' Resource Clinic and our designated patent management organization, the Wisconsin Alumni Research Foundation (WARF).
