The Multicultural Graduate Network (MGN)
MGN provides an infrastructure and access to resources and services for "primarily targeted" graduate students and to any graduate student who seeks community, learning, professional development, and educational/cultural enhancements within a multicultural context. MGN is unique in that it is housed within the Office of Graduate Students Diversity Resources (OGSDR) and seeks to create a family atmosphere for all graduate students who participate.
MGN believes in an inclusive context, and we believe that no matter our given backgrounds, difference is appreciated and valued; we believe in creating a space for all students in need of diversity. Our program is here to be of service, we value the personal connection established with many of the participants and will continue to create such relationships within multicultural settings.
Please feel free to contact our coordinator Jorge F. Rodriguez or call him at (608) 265-9704 to learn more about MGN and ways in which you can get involved; or, simply contact MGN for direction on housing, Madison and community orientation, funding resources, or insight into the graduate experience within our campus.
If you would like to help to organize any MGN events and/or have ideas on how MGN can continue to grow, please join our Student Advisory Council.
Our Mission
Our mission is “Networking graduate scholars through learning and community.” By providing an organic infrastructure to build community and reduce attrition, MGN is a nexus for targeted graduate students to find connections to people, to ideas, to the campus, and to Madison.
