Completing Your Degree
As you near completion of your graduate degree, you will need to verify that you have met the Graduate School’s minimum degree requirements. In addition, the type of degree you will be receiving has other requirements that must be met prior to the degree being awarded. When you begin to prepare your master's thesis or dissertation, the following guidelines will step you through the process.
For master's degree candidates:

Once you have met your degree requirements, you may choose to attend a
fall or spring commencement
ceremony. Commencement is organized through the Office of the Secretary
of the Faculty. If you are receiving a Masters, notify your department,
regarding the timeline to follow for your name appear in the commencement
program. If you are receiving a Doctorate, notify your major department.
They will make arrangements for your Doctoral escort and notify the Office
of the Secretary of the Faculty.
