After completing the second semester, students must
  • take a sufficient course load in philosophy, in the opinion of the major professor and department chair, to indicate serious pursuit of a Ph.D. in philosophy
  • maintain a cumulative GPA above 3.5 in philosophy graduate seminars (courses numbered 800 and above)
  • have more than half of their department reports on course work ("green sheets") marked "meets the standard expected of students to which the philosophy department should guarantee support."
