  • Candidates admitted into the program who have not completed an M.S. thesis or equivalent research project must complete a research project in lieu of a thesis, and present it at the required proseminar.
  • All entering doctoral students must complete a first-year research project and present it at the required proseminar, or may present their dissertation prospectus at the proseminar.
  • The proseminar presentation must precede the preliminary examination.
  • A prospectus for the dissertation must be completed and approved by the dissertation committee. Contact the department for more information.
