Description: Instituted in 1968; acquired current name in 1996. Reputation as national training school for university engineers with highly selective admission standards; now a comprehensive university spanning technology, sciences, social sciences and the arts. After the Bologna agreement adopted new degree and grading system in 2005. Usual admission requirement is the secondary certificate (vitnemål from videregående skole) (13 years of education).

Examinations sat annually. Degree program divided into parts I and II with a diploma thesis after completion of all exams. A final overall mark is calculated.
