SCRO Committee: UW-Madison hESC Registry

With the exception of the hESC lines listed on the National Institutes of Health Embryonic Stem Cell Registry as of December 2, 2009 and those lines previously approved by the NIH on May 9, 2007, hESC lines must have their provenance documented and approved by the SCRO committee before first being used in research falling within the SCRO Committee's purview. Once the SCRO committee has reviewed the provenance for a hESC line and found it to be in accordance with the UW-Madison Policy for Human Pluripotent Stem Cell Research, that line will be added to the UW-Madison hESC Registry. For hESC lines already on the NIH or UW-Madison hESC Registry, researchers do not need to provide the SCRO Committee with any further documentation regarding the provenance of those lines (although protocols using those line still require SCRO Committee approval).  Lines which appear on the UW-Madison hESC Registry are only eligible for use with federal funding if they also appear on the NIH hESC Registry.
